I got a sample from a pharmacy some time back. Heard about those detox patches from japan? Apparently, you stick these at the soles of your clean dry feet for a good detox through feet.

These foot detox patches are based on the principles of reflexology. Basically, the Asians believe that each point on the sole of your foot corresponds with another part of your body. Massaging an accupressure point on your foot can stimulate your kidneys, or your pituary gland, your adrenals or whichever part that point corresponds to. A reflexologist can detect a blockage either by feeling a lump there, or by watching you wince at the pain whenever a part that is blocked. A blockage means that there is some health problem pending or already in existence in the corresponding part of your body. Reflexology also improves circulation and other bodily functions.

I tried the detox foot pad. The content of the bags was white before I used it. It is supposed to draw out toxins, heavy metals, food additives and all the gunk we put into our bodies. Apparently after use, you'd see how much gunk it draws out by the color of the contents. The more toxic your body is, the more toxins would be drawn out, the darker the color of the bag after use. With regular use, the color after use would get lighter and lighter as fewer and fewer toxins remain in your system.

Forever a sceptic, I looked at the silica gel package kept with the foot pads. Presumable to keep it fresh. I thought perhaps the color would change, but the changes could be due to exposure to the moisture in the air or oxidation once the pack is exposed to humidity.

After my bedtime shower,I washed my feet with soap and water and towel dried them. Then I stuck one foot detox pad on the sole of each feet and went to bed. Actually, you can use just one pad on one foot each night. One day on the right foot, the next on the left. I used them on both feet. Apparently, the foot pads stimulate your organs, for example, your kidneys to work harder to dispose of the toxins in your body. I felt a dull ache around the sides of my waist and my back when I used the pads on my feet.

Do foot detox pads really work?
